London without kids: I’m still not the better of it

London without kids

London without kids, I’m still not the better of it!

For months on end my mother in law, Nanny Chambers, told us to go away together. When she said together, she meant just myself and Daddy Chambers. We always wanted to take advantage of her offer but felt a bit guilty about doing so. She’s 70 after all and Aidan and Sarah are a real handful. They make us exhausted so I can only imagine how she must feels after she looks after them.  Continue reading

Family break in the D Hotel and Funtasia

Family break in the D Hotel and Funtasia

Family break in the D Hotel and Funtasia: Aidan and Daddy Chambers outside The D Hotel in Drogheda

Would you beleive that up until last Saturday we had never all stayed together as a family in a hotel. It just didn’t appeal to me. I worried about all four of us being in a room together and I wondered what myself and Daddy Chambers would do once Aidan and Sarah were asleep.  Continue reading

Review: Family holiday in Holland

Family holiday in Holland: Efteling Theme Park

Family holiday in Holland: Efteling Theme Park

When I told friends I was going to Holland on holidays this summer a lot of them just assumed I was sneaking off on a mini-break with Daddy Chambers and leaving the kids at home. Au contraire my friends! The four of us took off and spent a week exploring the North Brabant region of the Netherlands. Shopping trolleys for kids: Aidan all set for his shopping in The Netherlands last week.

We’ve only been abroad with the kids twice, once in Spain and just last week we were in The Netherlands and Belgium. In all three countries supermarkets had mini shopping trolleys for kids and they are the business. We need them in Ireland. Well personally I think that we need them here.  Continue reading

An absolutely brilliant family weekend in Birr

Birr Castle Treehouse

Aidan and Sarah leg it towards to treehouse in the grounds of Birr Castle

Birr is not the first town that comes to mind when trying to organise a family weekend away. We’re just back from the Offaly town and I’m here to tell you that it’s the business. Indeed it’s perfect for a family weekend away and we’ll be back again.  Continue reading

Review: Cambrils Park Resort, Spain

Cambrils Park in Spain’s Costa Dorada; a Mecca for families during the summer months. We learned of the resort through a friend after I mentioned wanting to take our first ever holiday abroad this summer. That was in June 2015 and I was warned to book it immediately or otherwise I didn’t stand a chance of getting in to the holy resort. Yes, a full year in advance!  Continue reading

Travelling abroad with kids for the first time

travelling abroad with kids

We are popping our family sun holiday cherry in a few weeks and I’m beyond excited. The last time I was on a plane was four years ago for a friends’ wedding in Spain. Having spent the last few years holidaying in Ireland in the rain, I’m looking forward to guaranteed sun, no cooking, no cleaning and letting the routine go just a small bit.  Continue reading
